Ecologist Discord Server

💬 Join the Ecolinguist Discord (Optional Community Space)
Discord is a separate, community-run space created for fans, contributors, and language enthusiasts who want to connect more casually around Ecolinguist content.
It’s free and open to anyone — you don’t need to be an Academy member to join.
🧩 What Discord Is
- A space to chat casually, share language thoughts, or just hang out
- A place where contributors can coordinate informally or test ideas
- A tool for voice chats, livestream reactions, or spontaneous meetups
- A community-moderated environment shaped by those who use it
🚫 What It Isn’t
- It’s not as structured as the Academy
- It’s not the main hub for contributor tasks or project coordination
- It’s not required — not everyone who watches the show or joins the Academy uses it
👋 My Role There
I don’t spend much time on Discord myself — I’ve never been an active social media user. I originally created the server before Ecolinguist Academy existed, as a space where the community could gather, connect, and share ideas beyond just watching videos.
Very early on, I put the server into the hands of volunteers who were already active users. They’ve generously given their time and energy to shape the space and keep it welcoming for the Discord community — and I’m incredibly grateful for that.
Since then, the Academy has become the main hub for structured content, training, and collaboration, which is where I now focus most of my efforts. Discord didn’t offer the tools I needed to build the learning infrastructure I had in mind — but it remains a valuable community space for casual connection and real-time events.
It’s a great place for:
- Voice chats and informal meetups
- Live language games or challenges
- Following up on themes from the shows
I stay in touch with moderators and admins to help ensure things run smoothly. And as the Academy grows, I hope it will also feed into Discord, offering ideas, prompts, or formats that the community can run with in their own way.
🛡️ About Moderators
Moderators are trusted community members who:
- Help keep the space safe, respectful, and enjoyable
- Answer basic questions and redirect new people
- May help organize informal events or watch parties over time
If you’re a Discord user and you’d like to get more involved, just start showing up and participating — you will be noticed! Active members may be invited to join the moderation team and help shape the space further.
